Dawn behind me. The last time I came this way I turned back because of ice on the road.
From the road across Birker Moor, the higher mountain tops are covered by cloud.
It looks promising over there where the sun is on the fell.
And that is more or less the southern side of Whin Rigg.
Climbing up to Irton Fell and I disturb two roe deer.
Reaching the summit and one of the deer watches me from a safe distance below.
It's a superb morning. From Irton Fell looking towards the Irish Sea.
Ravenglass estuary in the far distance.
Muncaster Fell with Black Combe on left skyline.
The long spine of Muncaster Fell.
Blengdale forest in the distance towards Stockdale Moor.
Blengdale Forest in the distance towards Stockdale Moor.
Nether Wasdale in the valley.
The route lies through the plantation ahead. Wastwater in the distance.
On the right Whin Rigg.
The track follows the fringe of the forest before reaching Whin Rigg.
Harter Fell.
